Requests under Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs) allows public authorities to charge a ‘reasonable amount’ for making environmental information available. There is no upper or lower charging limits for requests, although any fee charged will not exceed the total cost of making the information available.
Charges may be made for locating, retrieving and providing information to you at the actual cost of staff hourly rate. In the instances where charges are applied, a full breakdown of costs will be given to you and the information will not be supplied to you unless full payment has been received.
You will have 3 months from the date of issue of the fees notice in which to decide whether to pay the charge. If you decide not to proceed with the request there will be no charge.
