RTS Electric Meter Changes
Across the UK, the Radio Teleswitch Service (RTS) is being switched off. Electric meters that rely on this system are currently being replaced by energy suppliers. RTS meters are commonly used in homes with certain electric heating systems and tariffs to control when heating and hot water come on and off.
If your RTS meter is not replaced, your heating and hot water may not work properly. This could affect heating schedules and automatic switching times.
You may have a meter that uses RTS if:
• your home uses electric heating or storage heaters
• you are on a tariff such as Economy 7, Economy 10, or Total Heat Total Control
• you have a separate switch box near your meter marked “Radio Teleswitch”
• your home does not have a gas supply
Your energy supplier or meter operator will arrange a replacement free of charge.
• An engineer will normally need access to your home to complete the work. Gas and EICR contracts
• If you are given an appointment, please ensure access is provided on the agreed date.
• If you have not been contacted yet and think you may be affected, please speak to your energy supplier as soon as possible.
You can find more information on the Ofgem website, http://www.ofgem.gov.uk, searching for: “Replacing your Radio Teleswitch electricity meter” Ofgem is the official energy regulator for the UK and provides links to energy suppliers so you can arrange your meter replacement.
