Albyn to invest £1.1m in effort to reduce fuel bills, improve sustainability and future proof homes

Albyn Housing Society is investing £1.1million in improvements to its homes as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of properties for tenants.

Around 115 households will benefit from this latest programme of planned works.
The improvements will include:

  • New heating systems
  • Kitchen replacements
  • Bathroom replacements
  • New windows
  • New doors

These upgrades are designed to make homes warmer, safer and more comfortable with modern components.

Energy efficient windows and doors will help reduce heat loss, while improved heating systems improve control over energy costs. Modern kitchens and bathrooms are designed to last for many years.
The work is being carried out with the support of local contractors, including Compass and Orbis.

One contractor, Compass Building and Construction Services, has been awarded the contract to carry out the kitchens replacements as well as installing new doors and windows.

We enjoy a long-standing relationship with Albyn, and this level of continued investment in existing housing stock contributes to underpinning jobs for our local, directly employed tradespeople whilst also providing crucial modernisation experience for our apprentices.”

Contractors have started contacting residents directly to arrange appointments. Albyn will continue to work closely with contractors to help keep disruption to tenants at a minimum.

Some tenants have already had new heating systems installed and have shared their experiences.

Helen: “I have been delighted with the overall experience, the whole process has been extremely smooth. Communication with both Orbis and Albyn has been very easy and professional, with a couple of minor issues after installation sorted quickly and efficiently.

“There was no mess left in the house after the team had finished – you would never know that workmen had been in my house that day!

Cheryl: “We have been very happy with our new heating system, and would say it is far better than the previous older heaters we had beforehand.

“Communication with Albyn and Orbis was also very easy and clear. We would recommend the new heating system to anyone.”

Dorothy: “The new heating system has made such a difference to my home, where my house was previously cold, the new heaters has made it very warm and comfortable.

“Overall, I found the whole process absolutely fine and straight forward”
