Fly Tipping and Bulk Uplift
How to report fly-tipping in our communal areas
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence and carries the potential punishment if convicted of an unlimited fine or imprisonment. We carry out regular inspections of our estates and report any fly-tips seen, but we do need help with this as it is a regular occurrence.
Fly-tips in our communities
If you see a fly-tip in one of our communities, for example a shared area or communal garden please contact us at tenancymanagement@albynhousing.org.uk . Please let us know what has been dumped and where and any information that you may have regarding the source of the littering. Please send a photograph if possible.
We have the power to recharge tenants responsible for fly-tipping for the cost of removing rubbish dumped in communal areas. All of our buildings operate with a clear corridor policy, meaning that for reasons of health and safety no items should be left in communal areas.
What to do if you have items to uplift
If you find yourself with heavy items you no longer want: here’s a reminder of the ways to dispose of them responsibly.
Kerbside collection by the Highland Council’s Bulky Uplift service. The service must be requested at least 2 days
in advance and costs £29 for up to three items or £58 for up to six items. Visit www.highland.gov.uk and search
bulky uplift.
If your items are in a good, safe condition, consider donating them to New Start Highland, they will collect from
your home and your donation can help people get back on their feet after experiencing homelessness or housing
insecurity. Find out more at the New Start Highland website: www.newstarthighland.org/get‑involved/donate
