Construction noise
Albyn is currently developing a large number of new build housing sites across the Highlands, many of which are located next to existing homes and communities. During the construction period there will, unfortunately, be some unavoidable noise, dust, and disruption associated with building works.
All sites operate under planning permissions conditions set by the Highland Council, including working hours and restrictions around machinery use. We understand that is can be frustrating to live near an active building site.
However, as long as contractors are working within the approved conditions, there is limited action Albyn can take to reduce disruption.
If you believe noise levels are excessive or work is taking place outside approved hours you can contact the Highland Council’s Environmental Health team.
Please see below some useful general information for living next to an active building site:
During the winter months: winter building work may bring mud to access roads, the contractor should try to remove as much mud/debris as possible.
During the dry summer months: dry weather can cause increased dust levels, keep windows closed but trickle
vents open to protect indoor air quality.
Noise: you may notice building and machinery noise during site working hours.
General site working hours:
• Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm.
• Saturday mornings: Some additional work may take place.
• Sundays & Scottish Bank Holidays: no work shall take place.
If you have concerns, you can check site specific working hours with our Development team.
Safety around construction sites:
• Construction sites are dangerous areas and all active work zones are securely fenced.
• Please stay clear of works areas, and ensure children do not play near sites or fences.
• Heavy machinery, including lorries and diggers may be operating and moving around the site, always stay alert if walking or driving nearby.
• Road & pavements may not yet be fully surfaced, so please observe temporary speed limits and be mindful when driving and walking until final surfacing works are complete.
