Housing Officer (Income)

Contract Terms: 35 hours per week (full time), permanent
Salary: £40,369–£44,330 per annum (Albyn Group Grade E4–E1), increasing to £41,904–£46,015 per annum from 1st April 2026 + Car allowance
Location: Inverness or Invergordon Office with hybrid working

About the Role

This role offers the opportunity for an enthusiastic, well organised and caring individual to join Albyn’s high performing Income Team. 

As a Housing Officer you will be expected to deliver high quality customer services to an allocated caseload that will ensure the organisation’s aims, objectives and performance standards are met or exceeded in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and best practice guidance, and within available budget parameters. You will be required to operate in the Income function but have excellent general all round housing management capabilities. 

The role includes a requirement to participate in the out‑of‑hours cover rota, providing support outside of normal working hours when required. This commitment is expected to be approximately three times per year and will be planned in advance wherever possible. 

As Housing Officer, you will:  

  • Deliver effective housing management services relating to Income.  
  • Provide information and advice to customers on relevant aspects of policy, legislation, and their tenancy obligations.  
  • Engage with customers to develop and deliver local services in accordance with Scottish Social Housing Charter requirements.  
  • Investigate and respond to customer contacts, including complaints, in line with the Scottish Public Sector Ombudsman (SPSO) complaints process and internal guidance.  
  • Help to develop and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.  
  • Assist in the development of and apply relevant policies, procedures, and good practice.  
  • Carry out all duties in line with Albyn’s values and policies.  
  • Carry out any other duties to the standards set as may reasonably be required by the business needs of the Society. 

 

We’re looking for someone with…

  • Experience of working in a customer focused environment. 
  • Knowledge of Scottish housing legislation, tenancy management, and welfare systems.  
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to achieving successful performance results and working to deadlines. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively.  
  • Ability to work unsupervised and make decisions independently, taking responsibility for the decision made, appropriate to the level of the post.
