Cost of Living Act Update
It has been announced today that the Scottish Government has decided not to extend rent control as set out within the Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Act, beyond 31 March 2023. Essentially this means there will be no further rent cap or freeze for social landlords from that date. This is after the housing sector worked together to provide a “Statement of Intent” to the Scottish Government, setting out that Housing Associations would have below inflation rent increases in 2023/24. This shows our commitment, based on our consultation with tenants, to keep rents affordable, whilst continuing to invest in improving and maintaining our homes.
As you will be aware we have been consulting on our 2023/24 rent increases over the past month and we will provide an update to you shortly.
